There are many myths about sleeping, and following these can compromise one’s ability to catch a good night sleep. So here are 5 such myths…
Myth Number 1:- Older people need less sleep then younger.
That’s not true, a lot of elder people think that they sleep less but that’s simply because they take unscheduled naps during the day. If their sleep is measured on 24 hours period, they sleep same amount of time as younger people.
Myth Number 2:- A person need 8 hours of sleep.
Research have shown that the amount of sleep is very personal and depends on person’s routine.
Myth Number 3:- You can cover up lost sleep on the weekends.
You can not cover up your lost sleep by sleeping more on weekends. Sleeping extra on weekends won’t help to cover your lost sleep.
Myth Number 4:- Don’t sleep with TV on.
It’s perfectly OK to sleep while TV is on.
Myth Number 5:- “Caffeine doesn’t affect MY sleep!”
No one is immune to the effects of caffeine, even if you sleep easily after drinking it, the caffeine keeps you in the lighter stages of sleep.
